waiting

Right now, I have two quotes I really like:

These two quotes simply describe a season of waiting. When you want something, you don’t have it yet, but you’re hopeful that you will get it. Soon.

But the hope, they say, kills sometimes.

So, interject it with faith; trusting that something you truly want exists, even when there’s zero evidence yet.

Lately, I have been noticing a certain kind of weirdness that happen in your twenties. You might not be quite where you want to be. Maybe you’re scared that you won’t live up to your potential.

I often speak to friends and peers, and I notice that soul-crushing sadness each time. While, it’s the side effects of being in this forsaken country. Being stuck in limbo and waiting for something.

I think waiting can be quite beautiful.

I once told a friend that I don’t believe if you lose something, a better one won’t come along.

That’s kind of the paradox for waiting.

You wait long enough, you say no to the stuff present in your face that doesn’t feel right, even if you’re terrified that this might be all you’ll ever get, or you won’t get another chance. You refuse to settle right now and trust timing.

Waiting can be saying no to that job that isn’t the right fit, that low-effort love interest, almost good-enough thing, or the average looking apartment. Being okay with waiting for better.

Don’t settle....

I know this feels almost romantic but If you ask for better, better will come.

Another favorite quote of mine is:

“If you desire something specific, don’t flirt with the lower quality version of it. Be stubborn about it.”

Waiting requires stubbornness, even if you feel like you are stuck in winter, with no spring in sight.

Borrowing from the words of the K-drama series, ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’: “I thought life went from spring to summer, fall, and then winter, but I was wrong. It sometimes feels like winter, sometimes like spring.”

This sums up what waiting is.

Sometimes, waiting feels like standing in an elevator that keeps going up and up without end. But then it ends, the doors slid open, and you’re suddenly in the penthouse.

Waiting is meaningful.

Waiting might look like you’re doing nothing, but it’s actually you being stubborn about the life you want.

Waiting isn’t alienating yourself from people or pressurizing yourself.

It’s living a little, speaking to your friends, loving your family, going out on dates while still working hard. You don’t need to pause your life waiting for that grand thing.

Your twenties is such a weird point in your life.....

I recently saw this black and white film, Frances Ha. It felt like pure magic. It was deeply moving and poetic. It shows what life in your twenties can feel like, where it feels like nothing is happening or you’re waiting for something to happen. When you’re trying to figure your shit out, you have no idea what you're doing, and things look like mistakes.

When you’re in your twenties or thirties, life can feel this way. Like you’re behind in life. But where you are right now, this is the least you will ever be. Things will get better, and it’s going to be okay.

This TikTok perfectly sums up what I’ve been saying. Don’t eat the fries while you’re waiting. Wait for the pasta.
